Since 1946, every April 23, World Spanish Language Day is celebrated in honor of the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, who died on April 23, 1616 and whose novel El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha is considered the masterpiece of the Spanish language.
